There are few sights more thrilling than a drag racing car hooking up hard enough to lift the front tires off the ground as the car appears to fly off of the starting line, but sometimes too much of a good thing can lead to some wheelie big problems.

Wheelstands put 100 percent of the vehicle’s weight on the rear tires for maximum traction but, as you’ll see in this great selection of photos from the NHRA National Dragster archives, sometimes too much of a good thing can lead to some wheelie big problems.
